Emerald Star

Home

This is the website for the sailing vessel Emerald Star. She's a 1991 Cabo Rico 38. The website is going to be mostly photos and a bit of commentary on the places and experiences of the crew during the cruise that started July 31st, 2007.

What We're Doing

We're headed for Mexico! We left the marina in Alameda, California (near Oakland) at the end of July.

As far as the website design - it's a Yahoo template for business websites. Eventually we may change it to something more interesting, but then again, maybe we won't. The pages are in chronological order and are usually named by the places we stayed or the general area. The newest stuff is at the end.

What's New?

Ray and Ray went on to Ventura. From there the Mexico Ray went back to Mexico. Santa Cruz Ray waited in Ventura for 10 days for good weather to head north. Finally the wind died down and Ray and Diane did a non-stop trip to Santa Cruz, arriving 4/6. So Emerald Star is back in her home port, at least for a few weeks. Then we'll probably head for Alameda.

The Rays, Capt Ray and Capt Ray,  arrived in San Diego this morning.

Emerald Star has been back in the water for over a week now. She's much happier, especially since she has new bottom paint . Ray is on the boat in La Paz and hoping to head north to California soon.

Well, the latest is that Diane has returned to w*rk. Yep, that's a four letter word in the cruising community, this is a "G" rated website and we wouldn't want to offend anyone! So we're planning to stay in Santa Cruz for a while. That's all the news for now.

A bunch of pictures have been added to the "Bahia Conception to La Paz" page. Check 'em out!

We're in the states for a visit and are not sure when we'll be back in Mexico. But we will be back since the boat is in dry storage in La Paz.

Still in La Paz. No surprise there. Since arriving Diane took, and passed, the exam for the general ham  radio license. So now she's a "hamster". We had Thanksgiving with about 250 other cruisers. Quite the potluck dinner! Attended a few dock parties. We worked on varnish and some other boat projects.

We are back in La Paz. This is our favorite big city in Mexico. We know dozens of people here so we are constantly running into friends every time we go ashore. It's really nice to see familiar faces everywhere. We're not sure how long we'll stay this time. Last time we planned on two weeks and stayed about two months. La Paz does that. It's nice to be back.
