Emerald Star

Home

This is the website for the sailing vessel Emerald Star. She's a 1991 Cabo Rico 38. The website is going to be mostly photos and a bit of commentary on the places and experiences of the crew during the cruise that started July 31st, 2007.

What We're Doing

We're headed for Mexico! We left the marina in Alameda, California (near Oakland) at the end of July.

As far as the website design - it's a Yahoo template for business websites. Eventually we may change it to something more interesting, but then again, maybe we won't. The pages are in chronological order and are usually named by the places we stayed or the general area.

What's New?

As of 11/21/2008

We are back in La Paz. This is our favorite big city in Mexico. We know dozens of people here so we are constantly running into friends every time we go ashore. It's really nice to see familiar faces everywhere. We're not sure how long we'll stay this time. Last time we planned on two weeks and stayed about two months. La Paz does that. It's nice to be back.

We were in San Juanico for about 6 days-one of our favorite spots. Then Loreto and Isla Carmen. We've been in Puerto Escondido for 3 days and are headed south to Agua Verde on Friday, 11/14. Agua Verde is another of our favorite anchorages so we may be there awhile.

As of 10/30/2008

We're in Bahia Conception, just south of Mulege, in Baja California Sur. We crossed over from San Carlos on Sunday, as planned. Probably we'll head south to San Juanico in the next few days, then on to Loreto.  The water is 80 degrees and the air is in the 80's except at night. So the weather couldn't be much better.
