We decided to return to Ballandra Bay after leaving La Paz. It was such a nice spot we had to go back. We stayed two nights. This time the water was like a mirror, no noticeable swell or waves. We did lots of walking on beaches and a hike to the top of the ridge that separates the bay from the San Lorenzo Channel.
This time we got pictures of the Mushroom Rock. The rock is famous, at least that’s what we’re told. It is on the cover of the official tourism brochure and there is a replica of it in a fountain in La Paz.
The rock has fallen over several times over the years. The city puts it back together using cement. Between repairs they put up one of several fiberglass replicas. Ray checked it out. This one was the real thing.........and it didn’t fall over on him.
.
After leaving Ballandra we went back to Los Muertos. That is one of the best places in south Baja to depart for the trip across the Sea of Cortez. We did some boat projects, read books, walked on the beach and went to the Giggling Marlin restaurant a few times. After about four days we headed for Mazatlan. We didn't take any new pictures so we didn't add another "page" on the website.
