Emerald Star

San Carlos

The San Carlos anchorage.

A hill overlooking the anchorage has really nice houses.

We arrived in San Carlos on 08/27/2008. The boat was ready for some serious TLC. In the past week we had our engine die, watermaker die, a dodger window tore, the dinghy outboard was acting up, plus 6 other things went kaput. We won't bore you with the details, but it was time to check into a marina and get into project mode. We'd been very lucky on the trip, so far, in the repairs department. Some boats have one thing after another. It was sort of good that everything happened all at once so we could work on several things at one time. But, boy when we got here we were stressed! Everything was repairable, we didn't need to replace anything. If you need to get work done on a boat in Mexico, this is the place to do it.

After all of the projects were completed we stayed for several days because hurricane Norbert was expected to head north into the Sea of Cortez. San Carlos is a good place to be for a hurricane. It ended up being a very small diameter storm and it hit the mainland about 70 miles south of us. It didn't even get windy here.
